A 10-year-old British girl saved 100 other tourists from the Asian tsunami because she had warned them a huge body of water was on its way after learning something about this weeks earlier at school.

Quick action by Tilly’s mother and workers of the Thai(泰國的) hotel meant Maikhao beach was quickly cleared, just minutes before a huge wave fully swept(風(fēng)浪等的席卷)the beach. The beach was one of the few on the Thai island of Phuket where no one was killed.

Her teacher, Andrew Kearney, was proud of his quick-thinking student. “Tilly is a very bright, clear-headed girl. It happened that our class were learning about tsunami just two weeks before Christmas,” he told the newspaper.
