He was angry and asked, “Who killed my tree?” But nobody answered him.

      Just then, George came in with his hatchet.

      His father asked, “George, do you know who killed that beautiful little cherry in the garden?”

      George was in fear. He thought for a moment and then said, “I can't tell a lie, Pa. You know I can't tell a lie. I cut it with my hatchet.”

    “Run to my arms, George. I'm so glad,” his father said. “You killed my tree, but you have told the truth, and this is more valuable（寶貴的）than a thousand trees.”
