題目列表(包括答案和解析)

You'd be forgiven for thinking that running after children each day would leave parents in the best shape of their lives. But a study has found that the mothers and fathers of young children are more unhealthy than their childless peers(同齡人).
Mothers with young children are heavier and eat more calories and fatty foods, and consume more sugary dinks than chidless women, scientists said. And both sexes are less active than those in their age group without children.
Parents often choose quick, easily preparesd foods that are high in fat and calories, and by choosing these foods they may in turn serve them to their children, forming a cycle of unhealthy diet.
Dr.Berge, one of the study authors, said:“This isn't a study about blame, this is about spotting a very high-risk time period for parents that doctors should be aware of ,so they can offer solutions(解決辦法).”
According to the study ,mothers ate more fatty foods and drank about seven sugary drinks weekly, equal to about four chidless women. They also had an average of 2,360 calories daily,368 calories more than women without children,With that many calorise, women that age would need to be active to avoid to avoid gaining weight.
Fathers ate about the same amount of daily calories childless men and both had an average boby-mass index(指數),but fathersgot less physical activity—about five hours weekly ,compared to almost seven hours among chidless men.
The study has several limitations-there's no data on how many women reccently had babies.Ther's also no information on the number of single parents, who likely face diet and exercise challenges.Sarah Kriger,an American dietician who works with new mothers said some of the mothers may have had postpartum(產后)depression, which might affect their eating and exercise habits.

It may seem to be a hard task to trace back the history of rap music, though you often see the informal music associated with highly informal dance style. As far as the origin of rap music is concerned, most people agree that it is from Afro-American and Latino Street culture of New York City. Not only in this city but in the surrounding areas there is the influence of African people and their culture.
Rap is a vocal (口頭的) style in which the performer speaks rhythmically and in rhyme, generally to a beat. The term of rap music is the same with hip-hop music typically-consisting of a rhythmic vocal style called rap. If we see it carefully, then we will definitely notice that the music usually is sung at higher pitches (調). Most of the time rap music is associated with chorus. Though rap music was primarily an American music style with African influence over its music and lyrics, recently it has been spread to almost the entire world.
There is hardly any country or nation where rap music cannot be seen in some form or another, and it is one of the most popular music styles among the youngsters. However, when it comes to its history, it is believed that hip-hop or rap music started in the early 1970s,and gained much popularity throughout the world during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The history of rap music and hip-hop music is full of controversies (爭議) and bans, as the lyrics sometimes relate to drugs and crime; even most famous pop stars and hip-hop musicians and singers were found to be associated with the controversies in their life. For that reason, no matter how popular this music style was or still is, it has always had a bad reputation in the eyes of mainstream society.

I’ve been told that in China, having a pet, particularly a dog,is often considered to be a status(地位)symbol because it shows the family can afford to have an animal. It’s very different here.
In Canada it’s common to have pets. Many people have dogs;many others have cats, fish, birds or rabbits. Some keep what we call exotic(奇異的)pets, although keeping exotic animals is difficult, and because it can also be hard on the animals, the keeping of some exotic animals is not allowed by law. Some people do it anyway.
I like animals. As far back as I can remember my family has always had cats. Our cats.of course, wanted to go outside and it seemed reasonable to let them wander the neighborhood finding birds to run after, trees to climb and sunny places to sleep. As we always lived in a city, however, there was a problem.I remember more than once losing a cat that was killed by a car and it was heartbreaking.
Now,my wife and I lived in a small town.We no longer have a house—we live in an apartment(公寓).We have a cat named Callie and she never goes out except onto the halcony(陽臺)so cars are no longer a problem. She’s about sixteen years old and will probably live to be twenty or more. The trouble will come when she dies. We’ve had a pet for so long that it seems like a natural part of our lives and without a cat around the  room it will seem somehow empty. On the other hand,we’re getting older and, given that a cat can live about twenty years we wonder if we’ll ever have another after Callie goes.
Having a pet is very good for a number of reasons. It helps to teach children how to look after a living creature, makes them realize that animals have feelings just like we do and that, in many ways,we depend on each other. For older people like me an animal is a companion(伙伴)and a comfort to have around.A pet, properly treated, returns the favor by giving back unconditional love.Wouldn’t this world be a great place if people could learn how to do that !
64.The writer keeps a cat as a pet now because___________.
A.she feels lonely living in the countryside
B.it acts as her companion
C.her family is used to keeping a cat
D.it can helps her teach her children.
65.What will happen after the writer’s pet,Callie dies?
A.She will surely buy another one.     B.She won’t keep pets any longer.
C.She will remember it for a long time. D.Her room will be empty.
66.What should people do in keeping a pet according to the text?
A.Not allow it to go out of the room.   B.Catch birds for him to play with.
C.Let it wander outside as it likes.     D.Not live in the city.
67.What can be the best title for the passage?
A.How to keep a pet.               B.My pet,Callie.
C.Keeping Pets in Canada.           D.It’s the Animal in Me.

Peter Rabbit is a character in various children’s stories written by Beatrix Potter(1866-1943). Peter Rabbit made his first appearance in 1902 in The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Peter doesn’t obey his mother’s orders and goes away.  Mr.McGregor spots him and runs after him. Peter manages to escape, but not before losing his jacket and shoes, which Mr.McGregor uses to dress a scarecrow(稻草人). Peter returns home tired and ill.

In the Tale of Benjamin Bunny, first published in 1904, Peter’s cousin Benjamin Bunny brings him back to Mr.McGregor’s garden and they get back the clothes Peter lost in The Tale of Peter Rabbit. But after they gather onions to give to Peter’s mother, they are caught by Mr.McGregor’s cat. Benjamin’s father arrives and rescues them, but also blames Peter and Benjamin for going into the garden. The two are the parents of six little Flopsy-Bunnies. Peter and his mother keep a nursery garden and the bunnies come by asking him for spare cabbage.

In the Tale of Mr. Tod, first published in 1912, Benjamin and Flopsy’s children are taken away by Tommy Brock. Peter helps Benjamin run after Brock, who hides out in the house of the fox Mr. Tod. Mr. Tod finds Brock sleeping in his bed and as the two get into a fight, Peter rescues the children.

Peter makes cameo appearances(客串出場) in two other tales. In The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, first published in 1905, Peter and Benjamin are customers of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, a hedgehog(刺猬) washerwoman.
