After listening to everyone’s concerns and problems, Professor Smith looked over at the hostess (主持人) and asked her if she could get a paper and pen for everyone in the room. She    36   a minute later, and brought some paper and pens.
“Do me a    37  ,” Professor Smith asked. “We’re going to try something and I    38   your cooperation. On the small piece of paper please    39   the 3 biggest problems you are facing in your personal life right now. Don’t write your name on it. We’ll keep it    40  .”
The group found the experiment    41  , not knowing what was to follow.
After everyone wrote down their problems, Professor Smith asked everyone to    42   their paper and put it in a small basket that was in the front of the room. There were    43   expressions throughout the room,    44   again, everyone cooperated, wanting to know what would    45   next.
Professor Smith shook the basket and then he    46   around the room and asked each person to    47   a paper from the basket. After he had done that, he sat back down and looked around the room.
“Friends,   48   the paper and read to yourself the problems that you    49  ,” Professor Smith said.
Then, Professor Smith    50   at the woman sitting on his left and asked, “Lisa, would you like to    51   your problems that you wrote down with those that you chose from the basket?”
“No,” Lisa said.
Next, Professor Smith asked the man sitting next to Lisa the    52   question. “Would you like to exchange the problems you wrote down with those that you chose from the basket?”
   53   the reply was “No.”
Professor Smith went around the whole room. Everyone had a    54   to answer.
Surprisingly, the answers were all the same — no, no, no, no…. Some people said that “I can settle my own problems, but I can’t    55   what I chose out of the basket”. Some people said “Wow — these make my problems look like nothing.”

(2010?冀州二模)
“A very disruptive(擾亂型的) six-year old child kicked my legs and clawed at my hand,”said one teacher. “I broke up a fight and was kicked between my legs,”said another. Many people have heard stories like this.  But the situation is more worrying still and it involves parents.
Every child , regardless of the circumstances into which they are born, has the right to achieve their potential, regardless of their parents’ wealth and class.  And we recognize that, as a nation,it is a long way to achieve this goal. But rights come with responsibilities and what worries people is that we are in danger of neglecting the latter.
Far too many children are behaving badly at school, even to the point of being violent to staff. This is terrible enough, but it is hard to be surprised since many children are just mirroring the behavior of their parents. Too many are starting school unable to hold a knife and fork, unused to eating at a table, and unable to use the lavatory properly.
We are in danger of becoming a nation of families living separate lives under one roof. The bedroom, once a place to sleep, has become the living space for the young. Spending hours in front of computer screens, on social networking sites or being immersed in computer games, children and young people spend little time with their parents. Parents are unable to monitor just what their children are watching.
Schools cannot right the wrongs of society and teachers cannot become substitute parents. Both parties need to work together. Parents must be helped and given confidence to take back control. They are responsible for setting boundaries for their children’s behavior and sticking to those boundaries when the going gets tough. They are responsible for setting a good example to their children and for devoting that most precious of resources—time—so that children come to school ready and are willing to learn.

B.parents care little about children’s life at home
C.children don’t live with their parents in the same room

小題4:What might be most suitable title for the passage?
A.Children’s behavior at school is worrying people
B.Parents expect schools to correct their children’s bad habits
C.There is no point in parents’ teaching children at home
D.Don’t blame teachers when it’s parents who are failing

Winston Churchill once described Russia as “a riddle wrapped in a mystery(謎) inside a puzzle”. Observers of Russia in the 21st century could surely say the same of the country’s president, Vladimir Putin.
Born in Leningrad, six months before the death of Stalin, the young Putin experienced a poverty-stricken childhood but received a good education. He developed lifelong interests in judo and spy novels, and first applied to the KGB(蘇聯國家安全委員會) at the age of 17. When they told him to go away and come back with a degree, he completed with an efficiency(效率) that would later serve him well.
Putin used his KGB training, plus his own discipline and common sense, in a series of jobs. He became acting President on 31 December 1999, when president Boris Yeltsin resigned in a surprising move. Putin won the 2000 presidential election and in 2004 he was re-elected for a second term lasting until 7 May 2008.
Due to term limits, Putin was unable to run for a third presidential term. After the victory of  Dmitry Medvedev, in the 2008 presidential elections, he was appointed to be Russia’s Prime Minister.
Putin is regarded as one bringing political stability and re-establishing the rule of law. During his presidency, Russia’s economy(經濟) bounced back, seeing GDP increase by 72%, poverty cut more than half, and average monthly salaries increase from $80 to $640. Analysts have described Putin's economic reforms as impressive. At the same time, his conduct in office has been questioned by political opposition at home, foreign governments, and human rights organizations for leading the Second Chechen War, and for his record on human rights and freedoms.
Whether he wants to drive Russia into a new stage, or believes in the values of its Soviet past, he is determined to put his nation back on its feet. To do this, Vladimir Putin may have to show his true colors sooner rather than later.

Someday a stranger will read your e-mail without your permission or scan the websites you’ve visited. Or perhaps someone will casually glance through your credit card purchases or cell phone bills to find out your shopping preferences or calling habits.
In fact, it’s likely some of these things have already happened to you. Who would watch you without your permission? It might be a spouse, a girlfriend(配偶), a marketing company, a boss, a cop or a criminal, Whoever it is, they will see you in a way you never intended to be seen -- the 21st century equivalent of being caught naked.
Psychologists tell us boundaries are healthy, that it’s important to reveal yourself to friends, family and lovers in stages, at appropriate times. But few boundaries remain. The digital bread crumbs (面包屑)you leave everywhere make it easy for strangers to reconstruct who you are, where you are and what you like. In some cases, a simple Google search can reveal(泄露)what you think. Like it or not, increasingly we live in a world where you simply cannot keep a secret.
The key question is: Does that matter?
For many Americans, the answer apparently is "no."
When opinion polls ask Americans about privacy, most say they are concerned about losing it A survey found an overwhelming pessimism(悲觀)about privacy, with 60 percent of respondents saying they feel their privacy is "slipping away, and that bothers me."
But people say one thing and do another. Only a tiny fraction of Americans change any behaviors in an effort to preserve their privacy. Few people turn down a discount at tollbooths (收費處)to avoid using the EZ-Pass system that can track automobile movements. And few turn down supermarket loyalty cards. Privacy economist Alessandro Acquisti has run a series of tests that reveal people will surrender personal information like Social Security numbers just to get their hands on a pitiful 50-cents-off coupon (優惠券).
But privacy does matter -- at least sometimes. It’s like health: When you have it, you don’t notice it. Only when it’s gone do you wish you’d done more to protect it.
小題1:What would psychologists advise on the relationships between friends?
A.Friends should open their hearts to each other.
B.There should be a distance even between friends
C.Friends should always be faithful to each other.
D.There should be fewer disputes between friends.
小題2:Why does the author say "we live in a world where you simply cannot keep a secret" ?
A.Modern society has finally evolved into an open society.
B.People leave traces around when using modern technology.
C.There are always people who are curious about others’ affairs.
D.Many search engines profit by revealing people’s identities.
小題3:What do most Americans do with regard to privacy protections?
A.They change behaviors that might disclose their identity.
B.They use various loyalty cards for business transactions.
C.They rely more and more on electronic devices.
D.They talk a lot but hardly do anything about it.
小題4:According to the passage, privacy is like health in that ______.
A.people will make every effort to keep it
B.its importance is rarely understood
C.it is something that can easily be lost
D.people don’t cherish it until they lose it
