(1)coming改為came
(2)Disappointing改為Disappointed
(3)followed改為following
(4)tell前加to
(5)at改為in
(6)up改為off
(7)of改為for
(8)dressing改為dressed
(9)change改為changed
(10)第二個I前加that

“we were looking forward to”是定語從句,修飾party,故come是謂語動詞,由“were”推斷句子描述過去發(fā)生的事情,故用一般過去時。故coming改為came。
“with their pet dog following them”是“with+賓語+賓語補(bǔ)足語”符合結(jié)構(gòu)作伴隨狀語,their pet dog與follow之間是主動關(guān)系,用現(xiàn)在分詞表示主動關(guān)系。
故tell前加to。
in the distance“在遠(yuǎn)處”。故將at改為in。
take off“起飛”。根據(jù)語境,故up改為off。
be short for“簡稱”是固定短語。故將of改為for。
“dressed in a red skirt”作定語修飾the girl,dress與the girl之間是被動關(guān)系,用過去分詞作定語表示被動關(guān)系。
因為“I wasn't get married until I could afford to buy a house of my own”是完整句子,所以句子是強(qiáng)調(diào)句型,not…until… It is/was+not until+that+其它成分。故I前加that。

Yesterday night, over a dinner with my elder brother’s family, a topic of happiness came up. My wife, Marla, a psychologist, was sharing Csikszentmihalyi’s concept of “flow” with us. Marla explained that according to the research on flow, people are happiest when they are absorbed in a task that is just challenging enough for them to experience a sense of mastery(熟練).

A few moments later my brother, Yuri, offered the following opinion: “The first and only, necessary and sufficient factor for happiness is to stop associating happiness with pleasure. The two — happiness and pleasure — have nothing to do with each other.” This morning, with my cup of coffee, I searched through a pile of books on my bedside table and—at the bottom—found a book by Bertrand Russell, I started reading but didn’t finish. In it, I found the following thought:

“The human animal, like others, is adapted to a certain amount of struggle for life, and when by means of great wealth homo sapiens can gratify all his whims (突發(fā)奇想) without effort, the mere absence of effort from his life removes an essential ingredient of happiness.”

The conversation came full circle: people are happiest when they are in a state of flow (Csikszentmihalyi’s language )…which is the effortful devotion in a moment…which has nothing to do with pleasure.

Indeed, as Yuri insisted : happiness–as–pleasure is a myth; the association between happiness and pleasure is nothing but a semantic(語義的) habit; psychologically, the two—happiness and pleasure—are arguably different; and breaking up this association between pleasure and happiness might, in fact, be a powerfully first step in pursuit of happiness.

As I look back on that exchange, I recall that there was an effort, a struggle to find a common understanding about this seemingly difficult idea—a struggle that made me happy.

For nearly a century before there was such a thing as a space program, a view of space was possible. People could see full views of the Moon, explore Mars(探測火星),and study the outer space beauty. All of this was made possible by a small group of artist-astronomers(天文藝術(shù)家) who worked to show people how other worlds in space might look.
Lucien Rudaux, a French artist, was the first to use his artistic ability and his knowledge of astronomy in art. His paintings show a mixture of skilled observations, brilliant imagination and careful attention. As a result, many of his works have come surprisingly close to actual conditions on distant planets. His painting of Mars included moonlike craters(火山口) that were first photographed by the astronauts in 1965. His 1930 painting of a dust storm looks remarkably like a photograph of a storm taken by the astronauts in 1976.
The artist-astronomers, including Rudaux, made people interested in outer space by painting what turned out to be exact portraits of the planets.
(1)The passage tells us ________.
A.the surprising exactness of space artists
B.the popular success of Lucien Rudaux
C.the imaginations of great artists
D.the likeness between the Moon and Mars
(2)According to the passage, artist-astronomers spent their lives ________.
A.exploring the planets
