I’m in New York! It’s a really a pity that I didn’t find you at the railway station. You may have left when my train arrived, a quarter behind the schedule.
Luckily, on the train I came across Mr. Taylor and his wife, who are Chinese and have been living in the US for several years. Seeing that there was no one to meet me at the station, they offered to drive me to your house.
As you happen to be out, I’ve decided to accept the Taylors’ offer to stay at their house for the night. I’ve decided to put up here for the night.
