　　Watching TV is a major activity and has great effect on children and adolescents．Children in the United States watch an average of three to four hours of television a day．By the time of high school graduation, they will have spent more time watching television than they spent in the classroom．Although television can relax, inform, and keep our children company, it may also affect them in undesirable ways．

　　Watching television takes away the time for important activities such as reading, school work, doing exercise and family union．Besides, children may also get incorrect information from television．They often can not tell the difference between the fantasy(虛擬) and the reality(現實)．They are affected by thousands of advertisements on TV, many of which are for alcohol, junk food, fast food and so on．

　　Active parenting can make sure that children have a positive(積極的)experience with television．Parents can help by doing the following：Don't allow children to watch long blocks of TV, but help them choose programs．Children's shows on public TV are appropriate(適宜的), but soap operas and adult talk shows are not．Set certain periods when the television will be off．Stop them from sitting in front of the TV doing homework．Meal time is a good time for family members to talk with each other, not for watching television．

　　Encourage discussions with your children about what they are seeing as you watch shows with them．Point out positive behavior, such as friendship, love for others and so on．While watching, connect what they are seeing with history, books, places of interest, and personal events．Talk about your personal and family values as they are related to the show．Ask children to compare what they are watching with real events．Talk about the realistic results of violence．Discuss the role of advertising and its influence on buying．Encourage your child to develop his or her own hobbies, do sports, and get along well with peers．With proper guidance, your child can learn to use television in a healthy and positive way．

　　While Thais and Cambodians share the same branch of Buddhism(佛教), many linguistic(語言的)and cultural traits(特點), the neighbours have had many slight quarrels over the countries, many of which were lined to the Angkor Wat temple．

　　During the rule of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia in 1975-1979, and after its overthrow, there was little formal contact between the countries．

　　Relations were not normalized until after the UK-sponsored election in 1993 restored democracy to Cambodia．But several borders still remain disputed(爭議)．
