Guizhou is a mountainous province knowing as a place of natural beauty, and attracts hundred of millions of tourists every year. I took a week-long trip to there last month. On the first day, I visited the Huangguoshu Waterfall, popular tourist attraction in the city of Anshun. With the water rolls down, I could even feel the ground shaking. Besides the amazing scenery, which tourists shouldn’t miss is the colorful culture. Therefore, I took the chance to explore Southeast Guizhou. I met the friendly Miao people and Dong people, tried their unique spicy food and saw their simply lifestyle. The word “Gui8” meant “precious or expensive” in Chinese culture, and Guizhou is actually one of the poorest provinces in China. Luckily, tourism is now playing a big part to help with its develop.

How are you? Sorry I haven’t written for so long. I’ve been quite busy arranging my holiday to Africa with my older brother, Colin. Have you ever gone there? We leave London in 15 July, and we’ll be taking a flight to Morocco in northern Africa. We’re going to ride camels through Sahara Desert. It’s the biggest desert in the world— about the size of the US! I expect they will be very hot, dry and dusty there. We’ll be travelling by camels with local guides, camping in tents and sleep on the ground. I had heard that, in the Sahara, there is no shade during the day, but the stars seem especially brilliant on clear nights. Altogether, the trip will take six days, that means I’ll have to sit on a camel for almost a week—how uncomfortably! I hope my camel likes me!

I can clear remember the incident that was happened on a rainy Sunday afternoon. I was on my way to the bookstore and was waiting for the green light at a crossing while a girl of about ten was knocked down by a passing car. The car drove off quickly, and a man immediately rushed to the girl to give him first aid. I joined in without hesitation. Luckily she was not badly injured and we sent her to nearest hospital.
My experience show that it is not difficult to be a responsible member of the societies. Comparing with the escaped driver, I am proud of how I did.
