14.Growers around the world are using new methods to grow grapes to make wine.They use natural and organic methods to control harmful insects and weeds instead of using chemicals.Now,a winery in Canada has adopted a natural way to control its grapevines(葡萄藤).The Featherstone Winery is in southern Ontario.The grapevines,like other plants,need to be cut every year.
Cutting grapevines must be done very carefully.Only a targeted area of leaves is removed from the lower part of the vines to help the grapes grow better.But at the Featherstone Winery,no man or machine does the cutting.Instead,the job is done by 40little wooly lambs.
David Johnson owns the vineyard.He says he learned about using lambs while visiting wineries in New Zealand.The young lambs are perfectly designed to do the job.They eat the grape leaves on the lower parts of the vine.But they are not tall enough to reach the grapes.They only weigh about 22kilograms,so they do not beat down the soil.And their waste makes good organic fertilizer.In addition,using the lambs costs much less than hiring workers to cut the vines for seven weeks in summer.And when the cutting is done in August,the lambs become tasty dishes.
Mr Johnson says he had a difficult time finding enough lambs to do the jo.There are about 50million lambs in New Zealand.But there are not nearly as many in Ontario.Also,some organic pesticides(殺蟲劑) are harmful to lambs.And the lambs must be watched to make sure they do not eat too much of the grapevines.
David Johnson says the lambs help him carry out his environmental ideas about farming.They are lovely and peaceful and he likes having them in his vineyard.People visiting the vineyard also enjoy watching the lambs do their job.

2.When you're climbing up a hill or playing sports,your back is all wet and so is your face.Why?Because you are sweating.(36)CWhen your body gets hotter than that,your brain doesn't like it.It wants your body to stay cool and comfortable.So the part of your brain that controls temperature sends a message to your body,telling it to sweat.Then sweat glands(腺)in your skin start making sweat.
(37)D When the sweat hits the air,the air makes it turn from a liquid to a vapor.As the sweat leaves off your skin,you cool down.
Sweat is a great cooling system.(38)G  Then you need to put liquid back in your body by drinking plenty of water so you won't get dehydrated(脫水的).
Sweat isn't just wet-it can be kind of stinky(惡臭的),too.(39)AIt's the bacteria that live on your skin that mix with the sweat and give it a stinky smell.And when you reach puberty(青春期),special hormones affect the glands in your armpits-these glands make sweat that can really smell.Luckily,regular washing with soap and water can usually keep stinky sweat under control.
So don't worry about a little sweat-it's totally normal and everybody sweats.Sometimes too much sweating can be a sign that there is something wrong in the body,but this is rare in kids.(40)F

A.Sweat by itself doesn't smell at all.
B.When people sweat,they lose water in their body.
C.Your body works best when its temperature is about 370C.
D.The sweat leaves your skin through tiny holes called pores(毛孔).
E.The vapor goes into the air and turns into drops of water when it comes across cold.
F.But if you think you have a sweat problem,talk to your parent or your doctor about it.
G.If you're sweating a lot on a hot day or after playing hard you could be losing too much water through your skin.
