14.他在一些無關緊要的事上花費太多時間,導致了整個項目的失敗.(lead to)He spent too much time on some unimportant things/(in) doing what was unimportant, which led to the failure of the whole project.
He wasted too much time dealing with some unimportant things, leading to the failure of the whole project..

分析 He spent too much time on some unimportant things/(in) doing what was unimportant, which led to the failure of the whole project.
He wasted too much time dealing with some unimportant things, leading to the failure of the whole project.

解答 He spent too much time on some unimportant things/(in) doing what was unimportant, which led to the failure of the whole project.
He wasted too much time dealing with some unimportant things, leading to the failure of the whole project.
根據句意"導致了整個項目的失敗"可知,是對過去事實的描述,所以用一般過去時.
本句可使用which引導的非限制性定語從句,what引導的為一賓語從句what was unimportant,作動詞do的賓語;也可以使用現在分詞短語作結果狀語.spend time on sth或者spend time in doing sth花費時間(做)某事;lead to導致.

點評 合理使用定語從句或者非謂語動詞能夠生動靈活地表達句子,使得句式更標準、地道.
